Saipan is an island in the Western Pacific Ocean. It is the principal
locality of the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
Saipan and its neighboring islands are close to Asia, on the Pacific
Rim. They nonetheless share little of the culture of Asia or the U.S.
